It is a good idea to have all the decision-makers present at the first meeting.  Typically, everyone has some sort of input or information to add about the project.  At our first meeting, we schedule a site visit to review your home. What is the project you are considering?  What do you like or dislike about your present home?  Why are you considering this project now?  What do you hope to gain from the project?  What are your current and future needs? What are your feelings regarding the architectural style of your existing home?  Do you wish to transform or alter the architectural style? - if so, where?  Is your personal style contemporary, traditional, or somewhere in between?  Do you have an idea file?  It's a good idea to have an information file containing pictures from magazines or elsewhere to help convey the look or details you are after. How do you see yourself going through the process of selecting a remodeling contractor?  How do you see yourself going through the project development, planning/design process? What is your target investment?  What is your ideal budget expectation for your project?                                     (At JW Fine Remodeling, we respect your time.  The budgetary amount you provide will indicate if it feasible to move our process and our discussions forward.  Only you know your budget and if you need to modify your current budget.  It is best to know your situation upfront and in-the-begining in respect of everyone’s time).  Most often, each of us establish a budget before making a purchase; whether a new appliance or an automobile.  Home building, home remodeling and home improvements are no different - they too should begin with a realistic budget.  We collaborate with our customers and our policy is to avoid pricing related surprises, sticker-shock and unachievable job cost expectations. We'll need to have a frank and honest discussion of how much you want to invest in your home; only you can tell us that.  At additional meetings, we can only provide a realistic line-item estimate for what your project will cost based solely on our construction related experience and our past/similar completed projects.  Of equal importance and to clarify any misconception, inquiring about the pre-determined budget is necessary to determine project viability only.  With the contracting model (open book) we use to complete each project and to invoice our customer; we gain no advantage with the budget number.  An open and honest discussion regarding the budget at the first meeting will set-the-stage for both future project-planning meetings and a successful and peaceful project.  How will you finance the project - cash, home equity or home improvement loan, mortgage refinance or other source? What is important to you in a remodeling company?  Working directly with the decision-maker/business Owner?  A Comprehensive Project Planning and Construction Phase Process?  One-Stop Shopping?  Business Operations Based Upon Honesty and Integrity?  Broad based experience?  Professorial Design Services?  Personalized and tailored service?  A single source of responsibility?  Craftsmanship?  Processes like scheduling and budgeting? Or something else? Do you need of a long-term master plan for your current home?  How long do you plan to reside in your home? The following are some of the items we would like to discuss with you at our first meeting: THE INITIAL MEETING Raleigh Home Remodeling | Raleigh Room Additions | Raleigh Kitchen Remodeling | Raleigh Bathroom Remodeling | Raleigh Home Improvements | Raleigh Attic & Basement Finishing
