Frequently Asked Questions:

Are you licensed and insured?
We are licensed Building Contractors in the state of North Carolina. We are licensed to bid on and build Commercial Buildings and Projects and Residential Home Building and Projects. Building licenses are state regulated, controlled, issued and governed through the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors located in Raleigh, NC. We also maintain current business licenses in several North Carolina cities.
Our company carries comprehensive insurance coverage, in-effect at all times. This includes: Commercial Automobile Liability, General Liability, and Workmans' Compensation. Our Trade Partners (subcontractors) are required to show proof of comprehensive commercial insurance coverage, in-effect, at all times. No operations of any type are conducted without full insurance coverage. This insurance coverage policy applies to each firm conducting business with JW Fine.

Do you provide a Warranty?
The state of North Carolina requires a minimum 1-year warranty. JW Fine Remodeling Corporation provides a comprehensive 2-year warranty on all work performed. Additionally, we provide a 10-year labor warranty on new, whole house applications, asphalt roofing applications and Hardie® siding. You will also receive various manufacturer warranties (coverage timeframe established by manufacturer) on the products used for your job. In addition, extended warranties are provided on structural improvements as required. We also provide 24/7-warranty service.

Does your company offer a process for designing and creating a complete set of building plans?
We have an experienced, in-house builder/design team capable of meeting your design expectations and producing all required preliminary, study and final permit-attainable drawings. All our CAD drawings are viewable and can be revised prior to any printing of the actual document. The majority of our plans are reviewed, approved and sealed by an independent, third party structural engineer.

Does your company offer a Professional Services Agreement?
Our Professional Services Agreement is used to start-up and develop the majority of our Remodeling/Improvements projects and every custom home we build. This process provides the initial starting point to create and finalize the following:
-Cost Feasibility Study
-Preliminary Budget
-Final Approved Project Budget
-Preliminary Scope of Work and Specifications
-Final Approved Scope of Work and Specifications
-Selection and Allowance Sheets with Product Descriptions
-Production and Building Process Schedule
-Start-up and Finish Date
-Interior and Exterior elevation/drawings.
-11x17 Study Plans.
-11x17 or 24x36 Approved, permit-attainable plan sets.
-Detailed written contract outlining approved scope of work, specifications, work descriptions, inclusions and exclusions.

We believe the best projects start with our Professional Services Agreement. Our clients recognize the benefit and value of this process by finalizing a design and scope of work that exceeds their investment expectations.

We’re eager to move forwards but not quite sure how to get started or where to begin?
It’s easy and fun getting started with the ideas and planning process. When you’re ready to move forward, we can organize all the details, and manage the entire project from design-phase through final completion.

We offer the following suggestions to get started:

1. Create a file (scrapbook of ideas) containing articles, pictures, notes and descriptions of
building and remodeling projects that interest you. If possible, include architectural styles
and product types. These are helpful in initial concept development and
planning.

2. Schedule family meetings to discuss, collect ideas and draw together input. Lifestyle
requirements, amenities and other efficient changes should be noted. It’s also helpful to
create a “needs” list first, followed by a “wish” list.

3. Establish a total investment (maximum) amount for the project(s).

4. Call @ 919-422-0881 to schedule an in-home consultation at your convenience.

One of our design team members will meet with you at your convenience, listen to your ideas, goals and objectives, and offer suggestions for advancing the design/-planning phase. During this meeting we can discuss our process, provide client references and insurance and licensing information. We can also tell you more about our professional experience and accomplishments and the next step towards moving your ideas and dreams forward.
